Why does my cabinet finish keep wearing away?

Worn cabinet finishes often point to poor adhesion, heavy use, or surface damage beneath the coating. The cabinet doors, drawer fronts, edges, and existing finish need review before a coating is chosen. We assess those surfaces during the consultation and explain whether repainting, refacing, or related carpentry work fits the condition.

Cabinet Painting for Bryn Mawr-Skyway Properties

Cabinet painting focuses on the parts people touch and see every day. That includes doors, drawer fronts, face frames, exposed sides, and selected trim. The buyer's main decision is whether the cabinet structure is sound enough for a new finish.

Thomas J. Painting checks the existing coating, surface wear, repairs, and cabinet layout during the consultation. We then explain whether painting, refacing, or related carpentry better fits the job. This page serves buyers who want a clear coating decision, not a general house-painting plan.

  • Check doors, drawer fronts, frames, and exposed cabinet sides.
  • Review peeling, grease, scratches, dents, and earlier repairs.
  • Choose a coating that fits the cabinet material and use.
  • Confirm which hardware, trim, and adjacent surfaces need protection.
  • Plan the final walkthrough and inspection.

How we complete cabinet painting

1

Review the cabinet surfaces

We inspect doors, drawer fronts, frames, exposed sides, old coatings, and visible repairs during the in-home meeting.

2

Set the coating scope

We discuss acrylic enamel, urethane paint, clear topcoat, or another supported finish based on the surface and use.

3

Protect the work area

Our crew covers floors and nearby surfaces with floor paper, plastic, or carpet coverings before preparation starts.

4

Prepare doors and frames

We address surface dirt, loose coating, rough areas, and supported repairs so the agreed coating has a prepared base.

5

Apply and inspect the finish

We apply the coating, manage cleanup, and complete a final walkthrough with the lead paint crew member.

How we approach cabinet finish decisions

Surface condition guides the coating plan

We review the old finish, repairs, edges, and cabinet material before choosing the work scope. Thomas J. Painting is licensed and insured. Cabinet painting is the wrong job when the cabinet structure needs replacement beyond supported repairs.

Preparation comes before color

Grease, loose coating, dents, and rough edges affect the final finish. Our crew prepares the surfaces and protects nearby floors before painting begins.

The final review stays part of the work

A lead paint crew member joins the final walkthrough and inspection. You can review the cabinet surfaces, edges, and surrounding protected areas before the project closes.

365 Painting Solutions did an excellent job on painting the entire interior of our house. The whole crew is so helpful and the process was so easy. We can't say enough about how thrilled we are with the end result. Jeff and Lorena did a great job helping us pick the perfect color! Efrain and the crew were a pleasure to have in the house and the careful workmanship was amazing.

These guys did an awesome job! They have a well trained team that works closely together to get the job done on time and on budget. They also did a number of other repairs on the interior and exterior ( removed dry rot, repair drywall, etc.) before they could even start the painting. I would highly recommend them!

We had been putting off painting our house because there is never a great time to do so. After we decided to do it, we got 6 bids, some where very low, with low grade products, other very high with outrageous considerations, Jeff and his team came dead in the middle with amazing notes from the first visit, careful workmanship and with top of the line quality product. Scheduling was a breeze with Lorena make it so easy for us even with a busy schedule during the summer. The best experience we've had, we basically did not notice the team was working. They arrived every day super early, left the area pristine, and delivered a great quality outcome in the entire exterior job. We are super happy with the pain, the look and all the recommendation and fixes the team did. We will definitely work with 365Painting Solutions for all of our future painting needs. Thank you for making this experience simple and painless.

Questions about cabinet finishes and painting

What cabinet coatings provide a durable finish?

Spray application with a suitable acrylic enamel or urethane paint can provide a durable cabinet finish when the surface is prepared correctly. The coating choice depends on the cabinet material, existing finish, wear, and desired sheen. A clear topcoat may also fit the agreed system. We review those factors during the in-home consultation before setting the coating scope.

How does cabinet painting differ from refacing?

Cabinet painting changes the existing cabinet finish, while refacing changes selected visible cabinet surfaces. Painting suits sound doors, drawer fronts, frames, and sides that need a new color or coating. Refacing may fit a different material or appearance goal. We inspect the cabinet condition and explain which service matches the structure and finish you want.

Which cabinet parts should be included in the estimate?

The estimate should identify the doors, drawer fronts, frames, exposed sides, trim, repairs, and protection needs. Those parts affect both preparation and coating work. Our free consultation reviews the cabinet layout in person, so the agreement can describe the surfaces included. Hardware and adjacent walls should also be discussed when they affect access or protection.

When should I request a cabinet painting consultation?

A consultation makes sense when cabinet surfaces look worn, the color no longer suits the room, or the layout still works but the finish does not. Bring your preferred colors, finish ideas, and concerns about chips or repairs. We review those points at the in-home meeting and explain whether painting, refacing, or related carpentry fits.

Why does cabinet paint peel around handles?

Peeling around handles often relates to surface wear, grease, weak adhesion, or an earlier coating system. The affected edges and nearby cabinet surface need review before repainting. We check the old finish and supported repairs, then include the needed preparation in the work scope. Daily handling also helps determine which coating deserves consideration.

What should I do before the in-home cabinet consultation?

Clear personal items from the cabinets and note which doors, drawer fronts, or frames concern you most. Photos can help show color goals, but an in-home review gives us better access to the existing finish. Please share your preferred color, sheen, and any plans for hardware changes so we can discuss the scope clearly.
