Why does cabinet paint wear around kitchen doors?

Cabinet paint wears when surfaces have grease, loose finish, worn edges, or poor adhesion. We check the existing coating, wood or laminate surface, and areas around hinges before recommending the work. Cleaning, sanding, repairs, and surface protection help the new finish bond to the cabinet. A consultation confirms whether painting fits the existing cabinet condition.

Cabinet Painting in Ames Lake for Existing Kitchens

Cabinet painting suits owners who like their cabinet layout but want a new finish. The work focuses on the parts people see and touch, including doors, drawer fronts, face frames, wood surfaces, and laminate surfaces.

The main decision is whether the existing cabinets can support a new coating. We look for loose paint, damaged edges, grease, worn finish, and areas that need carpentry work. If the boxes or structure need replacement, refacing or another carpentry option may fit better than painting.

Ames Lake customers can use this service for homes and commercial properties. The consultation helps match the scope to the cabinet condition, desired color, surface type, and access needs.

  • Check the existing finish for peeling, wear, grease, and weak adhesion.
  • Confirm whether the cabinet surface is wood or laminate.
  • Review doors, drawer fronts, face frames, hardware, and nearby surfaces.
  • Separate painting work from repairs or refacing needs.
  • Set protection and cleanup expectations before work begins.

A planned color change can bring older wood cabinets into a more current room design.

The final walkthrough gives you a chance to review the agreed work with the lead paint crew member.

365 Painting Solutions did an excellent job on painting the entire interior of our house. The whole crew is so helpful and the process was so easy. We can't say enough about how thrilled we are with the end result. Jeff and Lorena did a great job helping us pick the perfect color! Efrain and the crew were a pleasure to have in the house and the careful workmanship was amazing.

These guys did an awesome job! They have a well trained team that works closely together to get the job done on time and on budget. They also did a number of other repairs on the interior and exterior ( removed dry rot, repair drywall, etc.) before they could even start the painting. I would highly recommend them!

We had been putting off painting our house because there is never a great time to do so. After we decided to do it, we got 6 bids, some where very low, with low grade products, other very high with outrageous considerations, Jeff and his team came dead in the middle with amazing notes from the first visit, careful workmanship and with top of the line quality product. Scheduling was a breeze with Lorena make it so easy for us even with a busy schedule during the summer. The best experience we've had, we basically did not notice the team was working. They arrived every day super early, left the area pristine, and delivered a great quality outcome in the entire exterior job. We are super happy with the pain, the look and all the recommendation and fixes the team did. We will definitely work with 365Painting Solutions for all of our future painting needs. Thank you for making this experience simple and painless.

Questions About Painting Existing Cabinets

Can you paint my existing kitchen cabinets?

Cabinet doors can be painted when their surface and condition support a new finish. Thomas J. Painting checks the doors, drawer fronts, face frames, wood or laminate surfaces, and repair needs before setting the scope. We discuss color and finish goals during a free consultation. Refacing or carpentry may fit better when cabinet parts or boxes need replacement.

What does the crew inspect first on a cabinet project?

The existing finish gets checked first for peeling, grease, worn edges, and weak adhesion. We also review the cabinet material, joints, hardware areas, and nearby surfaces. Those findings guide preparation and repair decisions. The consultation then separates paint work from refacing or related carpentry within the proposed agreement.

Which parts change the cost of this cabinet work?

The cabinet condition, number of painted surfaces, material, repairs, protection, and color choices change the project cost. We review doors, drawer fronts, face frames, and cabinet boxes during the consultation. The agreement reflects the scope we discuss. We don't state a price before reviewing those project details.

How should I prepare my kitchen before the consultation?

The kitchen should provide clear access to the cabinets and nearby work areas. Remove loose items from counters and empty cabinet contents where access requires it. We review fixtures, appliances, floors, walls, and surfaces that need protection. Photos can help start the discussion, but the in-home meeting establishes the cabinet scope.

When is refacing a better fit than painting?

Refacing fits better when the cabinet boxes remain useful but exterior parts need replacement. Painting fits when the existing surfaces can accept preparation and a new finish. We inspect the wood or laminate, edges, doors, drawer fronts, and face frames before advising on the scope. Related carpentry can be included when the agreement calls for it.
